Truly Humbled

Today I have felt truly humbled as I have remembered and relived many feelings and emotions that are associated with my diagnosis of Crohn's Disease.  I'm not really sure why, but some days I just get hit with intense emotion and extreme gratitude for all that I have overcome.  And for all that I am asked to patiently endure.  I am especially grateful for the difficulties in life because I know that is where we can grow most, if we allow ourselves.

This week, I was very touched when a friend of mine posted on Facebook a picture of the Crohn's ribbon and tagged my name in the post.  Her dad received another surgery this week because of Crohn's.  Crohn's Disease can be a very personal thing, and I know that it affects many people.  I am aware of several individuals who are quietly affected by this disease, whether indirectly or directly.  I think that I am aware of many people in similar circumstances because
a) The Lord knows me well enough to know that I need to know that I am not the only person suffering with this very thing
b) I believe and hope that others feel comfortable confiding in me their similarities because they can relate to my situation

Today in church today we had such a great lesson!  It was all about finding joy in our trials.  I cried several tears because I am so grateful for my situation.  Over and over again as we shared miracles I couldn't help but realize one big and should be obvious miracle.  Although the medication that I have been on for 2 1/2 years greatly weakens my immune system, I never get sick.  Really truly I practically never get sick (well except for the same old same old Crohn's).  Seriously, I think I had a cold once last semester.  Once.

I am also very thankful for the letter that was placed under my apartment door tonight.  Yet again, the Lord has placed another friend in my pathway that confided in me a similar situation.  We are never completely alone in our struggles.

In conclusion, I would just like to share some mormon message videos that have really hit home today

  1. I love these videos. That lesson was wonderful. You're amazing. Philippians 4:13 is a favorite scripture of mine this year. :)
